On November 3, detectives from the Scottsdale Police Fraud Unit arrested the suspect for numerous felonies connected to fraudulent use of credit card information to purchase goods from online vendors.
Police were initially contacted by an employee from Harkins online ticketing service, who reported to police that they processed three online purchases of tickets using different stolen credit cards. They were alerted to the fraud when the cardholders called to dispute the charges on their account.
SPD detectives, began to retrace the victims' recent use of their credit cards, finding that they all had used their cards to make payments to Banner Health in Mesa.
SPD identified the suspect as a "self-pay" representative who works at Banner. He was arrested for Fraud and a subsequent search warrant was served at Johnson's apartment. The results of the search lead to the identities of other victims and other items of evidentiary value. To date, there are 8 fraud victims identified. Items such as clothing, electronics, and exercise equipment were recovered as fraudulently obtained goods.
The suspect is facing numerous felonies for credit card fraud and related offenses. He was held in custody. |
