At 5:20 a.m. this morning an adult male pedestrian was running northbound on Granite Reef Road crossing McDowell Road against the red light, when he ran into the side of a white Toyota pickup which was westbound on McDowell. The pedestrian was transported to SHC Osborn with a severe head injury, however, his injury is not considered to be life-threatening. The driver was uninjured.

Alcohol on the part of the pedestrian appears to be a factor.

Westbound McDowell Road was closed for four hours for the investigation.
