Details:

For nearly a year the Scottsdale Police Department Fraud Unit has been investigating Robert Huillier for defrauding nearly 70 victims out of cash and property totaling $2.5 million. Huillier utilized his antique appraisal business, Gaige and Company, as a guise to deceive them. A scheme that Huillier utilized was taking property on consignment and failing to pay the victims. He also persuaded victims to invest large sums of money on the ruse that they were making estate investments.

Huillier had been in hiding and avoiding police during 2008. SPD detectives received a tip that he would be at an apartment complex near Hayden and McCormick Parkway on Tuesday afternoon. At 3:00 PM on Tuesday, detectives took Huillier into custody as he sat in his car in the parking lot of the complex without incident on an outstanding warrant.

Huillier is being charged with 3 counts of Fraud Schemes and 5 counts of Felony Theft. Currently he is in the County Jail being held on $100K bond.
