On 03/11/11 at 4:30 pm SPD was called to the scene of a fatal collision between a black Chevy Tahoe and a bicyclist on Thompson Peak Parkway just north of 100th Street.
The adult male bike rider was traveling northbound in the bike lane just north of Thompson Peak Parkway when the female driver of the SUV, also heading northbound, swerved into the bike lane and struck the bicyclist. The rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time of impact, was transported to SHC Osborn where he was pronounced deceased.
Alcohol, drugs, or speed were not issues. Thompson Peak Parkway was closed for the investigation until approximately 11:00 PM.
