On Saturday at 4:00 pm a passerby called SPD to let us know that he thought he saw a mannequin floating in the wash just south of Jackrabbit and west of Hayden Road. Officers responded and found that it was in fact a deceased person in the wash. Detectives did not see any signs of foul play on the adult female body.
The victim was a resident of a group home in the area within a mile from where she was found. The victim walked away from the home on Friday afternoon and was reported missing later that evening.
The victim had a mental health issue but it was normal for her to take walks away from the facility. She was reported as a missing person as the inclement weather worsened and it was not like her to be gone as long as she had been.
Preliminarily it appears that drowning is the cause of death but the Medical Examiner’s Office will make the final determination at the conclusion of their investigation.
