Collision Involving Transport Van

Driver Data: Vehicle #1: 2012 Ford Econoline Van Driven by a 41 yr old male Tempe resident.

Vehicle #2 2013 Kia Sedan driven by a 28 yr old male Scottsdale resident.
Details: Police are investigating a collision at Chaparral and Scottsdale Roads in the City of Scottsdale involving a Ford transport van and a Kia sedan.

The investigation has revealed that the Ford van was pulling from a private drive in the 5100 blk of Scottsdale Road onto Scottsdale road to go southbound. As it proceeded across the northbound lanes of Scottsdale Road, it was struck by a northbound Kia sedan. The driver of the Kia was uninjured. The van had 11 people in it, who were in town for a sports training camp, believed to be part of th S.F. Giants baseball organization. 

Four of the van occupants were injured and transported to SHC-Osborn hospital with not-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway for northbound travel was closed for about 90 minutes to facilitate the emergency response vehicles and police investigation. The driver of the van will be cited for failing to yield from a private drive, a civil traffic violation.
