On 08/18/13 at 9:15 pm detectives arrested ANTHONY BONZELL JOHNSON (DOB 05/25/61) after he committed a burglary in Scottsdale near 68 Street and Cactus. Johnson was the focus of a joint burglary investigation between the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley Police Departments regarding a series of burglaries occurring during the weekend evenings which targeted jewelry, cash, and firearms. When arrested, Johnson had items in his possession tying him to the burglary from earlier in the evening.

The focus turned to Johnson when he was arrested for trespassing in a backyard of a Scottsdale home in May of 2013. Johnson was interviewed and made comments that possibly tied him to previous burglaries in the area.

Johnson either entered a residence through an unlocked door or by smashing a window, typically in the rear yard. He would do this while the homeowner was away, possibly for dinner or a movie. A search warrant served on Johnson’s residence recovered items from separate burglaries including multiple guns. As the investigation continues detectives believe that there may be possibly 100 or more burglaries from around the valley associated with Johnson.

Johnson was booked on Burglary, Theft, and Weapons charges.
