School’s back – do your part to keep our children safe

Scottsdale schools will be back in session beginning Aug. 7. That means thousands of children walking and biking to classes. The Scottsdale Police Department wants to remind everyone to be alert for children, be careful around buses and to slow down when entering a school zone.

All Scottsdale area school zones are 15 mph and it is imperative that everyone takes extra care when driving in or near one. Scottsdale officers will be out enforcing laws in the clearly marked school zones. Mobile photo enforcement vans and new portable school towers also will be deployed.

“It’s very important for drivers to obey speed limits and to understand that it is illegal to pass another vehicle in a school zone,” said Traffic Enforcement Section Sgt. Jim Dear. “Let’s all do our part to help keep our most important resource safe – our children.”
