Fled scene as a passenger in a newer model silver Chrysler 300.

Details: UPDATE:

On Friday at about 9:30 PM an SPD Detective was driving on the Loop 101 in Scottsdale when he observed a vehicle fitting the description and had the same license plate from the earlier Armed Robbery from Albertson’s that occurred on 11/05/09. A traffic stop was made and the driver of the vehicle led us to the suspect Jerome Whatton at his Scottsdale residence on East Palm Lane.

Whatton made incriminating statements and was booked on one count of Armed Robbery.



ORIGINAL REPORT:
The suspect approached the pharmacy counter inside the Albertson's store. The suspect handed the clerk a note that demanded all the store's Oxycontin. The suspect then simulated a weapon in his waistband. The clerk advised the suspect that she didn't have a key to the oxycontin. The suspect took back the note and fled the store without taking any pills. Another employee of the store followed the suspect out of the store and observed the suspect get into the passenger seat of the above described vehicle. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect(s) or vehicle. No injuries reported. Investigators are folloing up on leads at this time.
