On 07/03/11 at about 3:30 AM SPD was dispatched to the area of 6800 E. Palm Lane in reference to an assist call where Mesa and Gilbert Police Departments were searching for two suspects who fled from them and ended up in this location. The two subjects left their vehicle at this location and were on foot in the area. One subject, Ruben Estrada, fled into a rear yard of a home in the area of 2000 N. 68th Street. He was taken into custody, transported to SHC Osborn for evaluation of a K9 bite, and then booked into jail on a gang charge, Criminal Damage, and Trespass.
The second suspect, Mark Valencia, was located inside of a residence in the area of 6700 E. Palm Lane. Valencia was taken into custody shortly afterward once the resident notified police in the area that a subject had entered his home and was hiding. Valencia entered the residence with a handgun in his possession and was charged with multiple counts including Felony Flight, Burglary, Unlawful Imprisonment, Aggravated DUI along with others. Valencia was transported to SHC-Osborn prior to booking due to drug related signs and symptoms.
