On Monday morning at 2:45 am SPD officers were in the area where multiple dumpster fires had taken place earlier in the year. As they were proactively patrolling nearby, a male subject was seen running from an alley way behind the El Dorado Apartments. The individual running was detained and later arrested on an unrelated warrant. The area behind the El Dorado Apartments revealed a fire burning in discarded furniture which was stacked along the south wall of the apartment building. The fire spread to one vehicle parked nearby and the apartment building where there was damage to four separate units which were being remodeled.
Nine residents were evacuated from nearby units during the incident.
There were no injuries reported.
At this time the subject arrested on the warrant is not believed to be related to the fire, however, the investigation is ongoing.
