On 06/25/11 at 5:15 PM SPD was called to the area of 10773 N. Scottsdale Rd in reference to an armed robbery. The suspect entered the Safeway store at this location and took two bottles of liquor and left the store without paying for them. As the store’s loss prevention attempted to contact him he began to run and threw one of the bottles at the store security person. The suspect then reached into the front of his pants and stated that he had a gun. SPD officers caught up to him a short time later and took him into custody. The suspect complained of abdominal pain and was transported to SHC and then the DOC without being booked as he had an outstanding parole violation warrant. There were no injuries.
