SPD was called to a family disturbance last night to a home in the area of 7400 E. Almeria. The disturbance was handled (between the female resident and her estranged husband) but during the investigation officers found multiple animals living in conditions that included feces and urine throughout the interior of the home. First thing this morning we responded back to the home to follow up with the Humane Society and Animal Control. 27 animals were removed from the home including dogs, snakes, and turtles, by Animal Control. Due to the living conditions in the home the fire department was called out to check on the air quality which they deemed was acceptable to conduct the removal of the animals.
The adult female homeowner will be facing multiple counts of animal neglect and cruelty. Police Crisis Intervention Specialists were on scene to work with the homeowner with her issues of animal hoarding. |
