Update:
During the investigation a suspect was identified as James Lewis. At this time the investigation is ongoing and there is nothing additional to add at this time.
Lewis was booked on Aggravated Assault and Endangerment charges.
Original Report:
Last night at 10:45 pm SPD was called to an incident near Scottsdale Rd and Williams.
The victim related that he was dropping off a vehicle at the auto shop at 7255 E. Adobe. The business was not open at the time so the victim, a 39 year old Tempe resident, left northbound on Scottsdale Rd. As he was heading north he noticed a dark colored vehicle following him and thought that it was strange so he decided to do a U-Turn at Williams to head southbound. As he turned his vehicle he noticed the driver of a blue truck fire one round at his vehicle, striking his door. The suspect vehicle fled and the victim pulled off the roadway and called police.
The victim had a minor cut on his leg from a piece of the door which was broken off from the shot. He was transported to SHC Thompson Peak and released after treatment. At this time detectives are interviewing an investigative lead in this case. The case is still being investigated.
