APRIL IS NATIONAL 9-1-1 EDUCATION MONTH!
Our Dispatchers created a printable Babysitter Emergency Contact Form for parents/guardians to hang on the fridge or place by the phone.  Please take this opportunity to teach your children the importance of dialing 9-1-1 and knowing their address and phone numbers.

The Communications Section consists of 39 Dispatchers, 6 Supervisors and a Manager. Dispatchers receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and dispatch personnel as necessary. The Communications Room consists of 13 active dispatch consoles and 2 supervisor consoles, with the ability to increase to 22 total consoles to meet future needs. Dispatch took over all entries into the Arizona Criminal Justice Information System recently, with the help of 2 Records Specialists and 1 Records Supervisor. Dispatchers receive close to 20,000 phone calls every month in the Communications Section, and officers are dispatched to almost 300,000 calls for service each year. Phones and radios are activated via computer, and each dispatcher is surrounded by 6 screens that give him or her access to an overview of the city at all times. Dispatchers educate the public, give tours, work PD fairs, and serve on the police department’s Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM). They put in countless hours for those in need, donating time, money and food to local family assistance facilities, animal shelters, and a ball park for children with disabilities. In 2011, Dispatchers knitted over 800 caps that were donated to local hospitals for pediatric cancer patients.
