The Special Operations Division consists of approximately 100 dedicated sworn and civilian Scottsdale Police Department employees. Personnel assigned to this area fall within one of three sections; Patrol Enforcement, Traffic Enforcement and Detention. Each respective section is led by a sworn lieutenant with the exception of Detention, which is led by a civilian-equivalent manager. These three managers report to a police commander, who in turn, reports to the Uniformed Services Assistant Chief of Police.
Though diverse in job responsibilities, all three sections within Special Operations offer specialized support for other elements within the police department, primarily the Patrol Districts in the Uniformed Services Bureau. Special Operations resources are routinely called upon to support Department initiatives and assist in solving identified problems within our community with the end goal of providing the best possible service to our citizenry.
