Finding Your Way
The Xeriscape Garden is located at:
5401 N Hayden Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85250
Hidden from the street, this expansive 5.5-acre Xeriscape garden is nestled behind the dog park and baseball fields of Chaparral Park and is open for self-guided walking tours during regular park hours. Parking is available at the dog park (Off Leash Area). Paths to the garden are located next to the dog park and between the ball fields just behind the restrooms.
The garden is accessible from several directions, but you may want to begin at the garden's north entrance. That's where you'll find "Planning and Design," the first of three information kiosks. Kiosks are located at entrances along the main path.
Take a side path to an outdoor classroom, and read interpretive signs about areas of interest along the way.
You'll also find plant identification markers throughout the garden. Look for them beside the path and near outdoor classrooms. There are over 7,000 plants and 200 species. Identification markers provide both common and botanical names and include icons for plants that attract birds and butterflies. If you like a plant and want to learn more about it, be sure to note the botanical name.
