Starting July 1, 2006, the city of Scottsdale will once again be partnering with Arizona Bridge to Independent Living (ABIL) to assist renters through the Scottsdale Home Accessibility Program.
The program, administered by ABIL and funded by Scottsdale block grant funds, will assist low-to-moderate income renters by improving independence and safety in the home. Typical modifications include: grab bar installation, high rise toilets, doorway widening, ramp installation.
Program criteria:
- Have a significant disability
- Be able to benefit from a modification
- Have a verifiable residence
- Have a total income that falls within HUD low-to-moderate income range
- Rent an apartment, home or mobile home
- Have a signed release from the landlord agreeing to the proposed modification
- Have a minimum 1- year lease
Maximum amount applies; program participants are responsible for 10% of labor and materials (through cash contributions, materials, or volunteer time).
