The City of Scottsdale provides social services to senior adults and their families. Masters Level Social Workers are available by appointment Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm to provide support, education and resources free of charge.
A variety of social services are available to meet the needs of those requesting services or information. Among the services that are offered are short-term counseling, depression screening, information and referral, and home visit assessments. Benefits consultation, insurance counseling, home delivered meals and other services are provided by brokerage agencies offering services at our centers. We have many different support groups at each center including those dealing with grief issues, heart problems, Alzheimer's issues, Caregivers Support, Fibromyalgia, Low Vision, anxiety and Parkinson's disease. Health related services are provided to assist individuals with monitoring and maintaining their health status. The programs have a wellness perspective and are designed to encourage seniors to take control of their health care needs. In addition, we offer health and wellness programs such as flu shot clinics, blood pressure screenings, hearing and vision screenings and educational presentations.
The need to reconnect and/or re-create is perhaps the most essential need in order to enhance and improve the quality of life for the older adult population in our community. The main goal of Granite Reef Senior Center and Via Linda Senior Center is to provide the avenues of connection. Through our many services, groups and activities, we strive to be the all-inclusive conduit for the senior adults in our community.
