Citizen comments sought on draft budget

Scottsdale is seeking citizen comments on the proposed 2005-06 fiscal year budget at a special forum set for 6:30 p.m. March 29 at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda.

The draft budget is now available on the city’s Internet site at http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/finance/.   Copies also are available at all Scottsdale public libraries.

The March 29 forum is among a dozen meetings on the budget scheduled by a City Council Budget Subcommittee and the full City Council.  Time will be set aside at all of the meetings for public comment.  Other than the March 29 forum, all meetings are scheduled at City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.

 

Meetings are set at the following times:

  • March 28, 1 p.m. Subcommittee work session
  • March 29, 6:30 p.m., Citizen Forum at Via Linda Senior Center
  • March 30, 1 p.m., Subcommittee work session
  • April 1, 1 p.m., Subcommittee work session
  • April 4, 4 p.m., Subcommittee meeting
  • April 12, 5 p.m., City Council work/study session
  • April 18, 4 p.m., Subcommittee meeting
  • April 26, 5 p.m., City Council work/study session
  • May 3, 5 p.m., City Council regular meeting on budget
  • May 17, 5 p.m., City Council tentative budget adoption
  • June 7, 5 p.m., City Council, taxation hearing and final budget adoption
  • June 21, 5 p.m., City Council adoption of property tax levies

The city also is inviting citizens to comment on the budget by phone at (480) 312-2437, fax at (480) 312-7897 or e-mail at budget@ScottsdaleAZ.gov.   Citizens can also mail comments to the City Council at 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
