Alarm Awareness School

Ironically, a major public safety problem is caused by alarm systems!
According to Scottsdale Police Department, officers responded to 19,481 alarms in 2006, of which 11,722 were false. These chargeable alarm activation’s require a time commitment by the Police of over 7,792.4 hours annually.

Since police and fire professionals respond to all calls, these false alarms waste precious tax dollars and divert public safety officers from “real” emergency situations.  Scottsdale Police Department reports that an average of 53.4 security, fire and emergency medical alarm calls are responded to daily in Scottsdale.

The City of Scottsdale wants to work with you to reduce false alarms, which will mean better utilization of tax dollars and better focus of public safety professionals efforts.
