The Scottsdale Police Department Explorer program is a youth program intended to provide experience with a law enforcement organization, challenging training, and ethical development for those who may be interested in Law Enforcement as a career.

Explorers may participate in several aspects of police work, but are not placed in dangerous situations. They work side by side with advisors and officers to learn law enforcement skills. Explorers may ride with officers to learn skills first hand.

Explorers become involved with the community, learn leadership skills and develop self understanding and self confidence. This is all done in a positive environment. The result: a person not only better prepared for a law enforcement career, but a person more prepared for life.

Scottsdale Police Explorers are highly motivated individuals between the ages of 14 and 21. Members of the Post are held to high standards which includes the Police Department's guiding values: EXCELLENCE, INITIATIVE, and INTEGRITY.

The Scottsdale Police Explorers meet every Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Meetings are usually held at the Himovitz building (see map below) at 9379 E. San Salvador, Suite 500, but may include trips to different facilities for training.
