HEADLINES

Unofficial Scottsdale General Election results in. It appears that Scottsdale voters have re-elected incumbent Mayor W.J. "Jim Lane" and incumbent City Council members Suzanne Klapp, Virginia Korte and Guy Phillips. Scottsdale voters also approved Proposition 490, which amends the City Charter to accurately reflect when Scottsdale candidate elections are held and when Mayor and City Council member terms begin. City Manager might be named this week. The Scottsdale City Council will interview three finalists for the vacant city manager position. The City Council is hosting a special public meeting Thursday, Nov. 10, during which each candidate will make a brief presentation and answer questions from the council. After that, the council may extend a job offer to its top choice. Meet the finalists.

Provide input on Downtown pedestrian project priorities. The Transportation Department is hosting open houses to seek input on Downtown Scottsdale pedestrian projects. The Transportation Commission will vote on the recommendations at its Thursday, Nov. 17, meeting. Attend an open house or comment online.

Bob Parsons headlines Veterans Day commemoration, Friday. Entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons is the keynote speaker at Scottsdale's Veterans Day event. The free program runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road.

Fetch some fun at Dog Agility World Championships, through Saturday. More than 900 dogs from 11 different countries continue running nose-to-nose at The Dog Agility World Championships through Saturday, Nov. 13, at WestWorld. Join the fun with your well-behaved dog and experience "paws-on" activities together in dock diving, lure coursing, herding, rally obedience and a basic agility course.

Get hooked on fishing at Eldorado Parks Fishing Expo. Tackle family fun at Eldorado Park's free Fishing Expo from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the North Lake, 2311 N. Miller Road.

"Gobble til you wobble" at senior center Thanksgiving events. Join us for food, fellowship and fun as we join together in thanks. Two celebrations will take place: Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Granite Reef Senior Center; and Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Via Linda.

Hot rods roar into WestWorld. Witness WestWorld turn from horses to horsepower at the Goodguys Fall National Hot Rod Show, Friday-Sunday, Nov. 18-20. The event showcases hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks, classics and sports cars. You'll also get to stop by various exhibitors and enjoy live entertainment.

Hayden Road bus route frequency increases on weekends. Scottsdale bus riders can now catch Route 81 every 30 minutes instead of every hour on weekends. The route runs along McClintock Drive/Hayden Road from Tempe Marketplace north to Northsight Boulevard. Get more bus route information

Adaptive Services hosts Fall Fantasy Gala Saturday. Adaptive Services Fall Fantasy Gala dance is at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Center, 8102 E. Jackrabbit Road. Cost is $2 and includes pictures, finger foods, activities and a disc jockey spinning the hottest tunes. Adaptive Services offers a variety of community integration programs for youth and adults with disabilities including a monthly dance on the second Saturday of each month.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West hosts program on TV Westerns. Arizona's Official Western Film Historian Charlie LeSueur discusses the mass appeal and evolution of TV Westerns Saturday, Nov. 19. Between 1955 and the late '60s, an explosion of Westerns for grownups took over the TV screen - at one point, 26 Westerns were airing in prime time.
