AUGUST 26, 2014 PRIMARY ELECTION
NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL ELECTION

 

The City of Scottsdale will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 for the purpose of electing three Councilmembers.  A General Election shall be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 to fill any elected offices that remain unfilled after the Primary Election.  To be elected at the Primary Election, a candidate must receive a majority of all the legal votes cast for that candidate’s race.

Eight candidates filed nomination papers and other nomination forms with the Scottsdale City Clerk’s Office by the 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, deadline to have their names appear on the Primary Election ballot.  Write-in candidates are not required to file nominating petitions, but must file all other nomination forms by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Residents must be registered to vote by Monday, July 28, 2014 to be qualified to vote in the City of Scottsdale Primary Election.  Applications for early ballots for the Primary Election are now available to qualified City electors.  Official ballots will be available beginning Thursday, July 31, 2014.

The polling places used in the City of Scottsdale will be the polling places established by Maricopa County and used for conducting previous elections in the City of Scottsdale, if available.  The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

A Candidate Information Pamphlet will be mailed to all registered voter households approximately thirty days prior to each election.  A Spanish version of the pamphlet will be available online (http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/elections/espanol) and at the following Scottsdale locations beginning July 31, 2014, for the Primary Election and October 9, 2014, for the General Election:

Voters who are not affiliated with any political party and who are on the Permanent Early Voting List will not automatically receive a ballot for Scottsdale’s August 26, 2014 Primary Election.  Voters who are not affiliated with a political party have the option of requesting a political party ballot of their choice or a Scottsdale only ballot.  These voters must notify Maricopa County Elections (602-506-1511) of their selection to receive a mail-in ballot for the August 26, 2014 Primary Election.  Ballot selections also may be made online at:

The U.S. Postal Service cannot automatically forward ballots to another address.  If you will be out of town this summer and would like to receive an early ballot for Scottsdale’s Primary Election, you must register your alternate mailing address with Maricopa County Elections.  Your written request must include the following:

Full name
Date of birth
Maricopa County residence address
Mail-to address
Signature
A note giving Maricopa County permission to send your early ballot to the address provided
