Get a behind-the-scenes look at the science and technology that drive city services

Residents can get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the science and technology that drive some of the city’s most important public services. The city is hosting the “Science of the City of Scottsdale” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at various locations throughout the city. All events are free and open to the public.

Participants will get a rare chance to tour the highly-secured Advanced Water Treatment Facility, see how Traffic Management Center employees move traffic citywide from the push of some buttons and watch a Civil War re-enactment that brings the battle strategies and weapons of the era to life.

The program is being held in conjunction with the Arizona SciTech Festival, an annual statewide celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Science of the City of Scottsdale will reveal how STEM is at work every day to keep the city running safely and smoothly.
