While not a usual problem, occasionally new businesses find themselves
unexpectedly in a construction zone. In the critical early months of operating a small
business the impact of road construction, water or sewer improvements or similar actions
can significantly affect the business. As part of the discussions with the City, it would
serve the small business owner well to inquire of Capital Project Management if there are
any capital (construction) projects planned at or near the business location. You may want
to project out three years but even one year would be helpful.

You can also call (480) 312-7250. Call this same number to inquire about
private companies that have permits to construct in the Right-of-Way.
You may also want to check to see if there are any other agencies or
organizations such as the telephone company, cable company, and others that have projects
scheduled for construction in the public right-of-way. This can be done through the Blue
Stake office at (602) 263-1100. Blue Stake is not a service of the City of Scottsdale.
