On 01/13/13 at 4:00 pm a subject entered the Quality Tobacco at 7110 E. Thomas and pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. When the suspect did not receive money he left and entered a nearby business (Coughing Canary Smoke Shop) attempting to hide. As officers arrived they spotted him running toward Scottsdale and Thomas where he was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect had discarded some of his clothing items in a nearby dumpster and his handgun on a nearby roof. All items were recovered. No one was injured.
