Fines for Feeding Wildlife

The city has an ordinance prohibiting people from feeding wildlife at city parks. The ban is necessary to:

  • Manage the growing bird population
  • Protect the health of wildlife
  • Improve the quality of water in city lakes

The ordinance also addresses the harming of wildlife. The violation is a class two misdemeanor and can carry a penalty ranging from a suspended sentence to four months in jail, $750 fine plus surcharges and up to two years’ probation. Read the ordinance (pdf/577kb/4pp) or call Chaparral Park at 480-312-2353.
