Proposed Modifications of the Downtown District and Related Citywide Requirements
Introduction
In response to the recommendations contained in the Downtown Plan, which was adopted by the City Council in June, 2009, the city has initiated a text amendment to update Downtown District and related city wide regulations. Also, the city has initiated a comprehensive analysis and update to the Downtown Plan Urban Design and Architectural Guidelines to ensure alignment of the guidelines, the proposed zoning ordinance amendments and the Downtown Plan.

2009 DOWNTOWN TASK FORCE
The Task Force served as an advisory group to expedite the implementation of the recently-approved Downtown Character Area Plan. In addition to its overall mission of providing input for implementation of the conceptual Downtown Plan document, the Task Force explored possible zoning changes as they relate to Downtown Scottsdale; global parking issues in the Downtown; pedestrian amenities to help create better pedestrian traffic flow to Downtown merchants; and transit planning for the Downtown.
The Downtown Task Force typically met twice each month, from September 2009 to March 2011, to discuss various topics primarily pertaining to their mission. The 2009 Downtown Task Force concluded on March 29, 2011 with a presentation and report to the City Council pertaining to its recommendations.
