VolleyballBethany Wedepohl (pictured) and her friends need people to coach volleyball and flag football teams. Coaches decide the two days their team practices, which are after school on school grounds. Football games are Friday evenings, and volleyball games take place Saturday mornings and afternoons.

Preliminary returns reported in mayor and council races
Preliminary returns reported in mayor and council races As of Tuesday night, preliminary returns in the Sept. 2 Scottsdale mayor's race showed Councilman Jim Lane with 14,909 votes and incumbent Mayor Mary Manross with 14,692 votes. Final results expected this weekend will determine whether they head for a Nov. 4 runoff, along with up to six City Council candidates. Check the City Clerk's elections page for the latest numbers.
Breakfast features fire chief, 9/11 tribute
Breakfast features fire chief, 9/11 tribute Scottsdale Fire Chief Willie McDonald will be the speaker at a special Sept. 11 Mayor and City Council Breakfast, which will also feature a brief commemoration of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The breakfast is at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road, and begins at 7:30 a.m. with light refreshments. The program starts at 8 a.m.
