Holiday trash and recycling schedules to change
The holidays will bring changes to several city of Scottsdale services, including trash and recycling pickup. Read below for more information.
Trash and recycling schedule changes
Scottsdale’s Solid Waste Division will pick up trash and recycling on a modified schedule that will affect all residential customers for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s.
For the weeks beginning Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, Monday collection days remain the same. But there will be no collection on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. All other refuse and recycling collection schedules will be one day later in the week. Tuesday’s collection moves to Wednesday, Wednesday’s to Thursday, Thursday’s to Friday and Friday’s to Saturday.
Regular collection schedules resume on the week of Jan. 7, 2008. Please remember to have your containers where your trash is typically picked up by 5 a.m. the morning of collection or the night before. Call (480) 312-5600 for more information. Or visit www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov/recycle/holidaysched.asp for more on holiday schedules.

Discarded holiday wrapping papers belongs in trash – not recycling
Holiday wrapping paper, bows and ribbons spruce up packages, but mess up recycling collection. While these items may beautify gifts, they are not recyclable and don’t belong in mauve recycling containers. Please be sure to place them in your black garbage containers. But do remember, that plain cardboard gift boxes can be recycled. Need more information? Call Solid Waste Management at (480) 312-5600 or visit: http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/recycle.asp
