01-26-07 Release: FBR Open begins Monday at Scottsdale TPC

The 2007 FBR Open golf tournament begins Monday, Jan. 29, and continues through Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale, 17020 N. Hayden Road.

Below is information on traffic, parking and security to assist spectators attending “The Greatest Show on Grass.”

Parking

New parking lots and access routes will make getting to and from the FBR Open easier than ever.

  • For spectators arriving at the TPC from the north and west, general parking is available in Lot B, located off the Hayden Road exit of the Loop 101 Freeway.
  • For spectators arriving from the south and east, general parking is available by taking the Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard exit, driving north to Bell Road, and following the signs east one-half mile to the parking lot.
  • The handicap parking lot is accessed via Princess Drive, west of the Loop 101 Freeway.
  • All other parking areas are restricted to those vehicles with special permits issued by the event organizers.
  • A free shuttle service by motor coaches will be available at all the public parking lots. Shuttle service begins at 7:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, and at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, Feb. 4. Shuttle service is also provided at night during the Birds Nest Music Festival.

For up-to-the-minute FBR Open parking and traffic reports, the public can dial the state’s “511” phone message system.

Traffic restrictions

The following road restrictions are taking place to accommodate the FBR Open golf tournament at the Scottsdale TPC.

  • Hayden Road between Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Princess Drive is restricted to a single lane of traffic in each direction through Feb. 11.
  • Hayden Road between the Loop 101 Freeway and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard is restricted to local and event traffic only through Feb. 4.
  • Bell Road is completely closed between 82nd Street and Hayden Road through Feb. 4.
  • Princess Drive is restricted to event traffic between 82nd Street and Hayden Road through Feb. 4.
  • Princess Drive is restricted to resort and local traffic between Scottsdale Road and Hayden Road through Feb. 4.
  • 82nd Street is restricted to local residential traffic between Union Hills and Princess, and closed between Princess and Bell roads through Feb. 4. Local business traffic should use the Princess exit from the Loop 101.

Security

The PGA has rules for behavior at all golf events -- disorderly behavior will not be tolerated at the FBR Open. In addition, the following items are prohibited from being brought into the tournament:

  • Weapons -- All weapons are banned from the Scottsdale TPC during the FBR Open. No exceptions.
  • Personal cell phones are not permitted at the FBR Open during tournament play Thursday through Sunday. There are free phone call stations located around the grounds.
  • Beverages are not permitted, except for sealed bottled water and special drinks such as baby formula.
  • Food items are banned unless pre-prepared, in clear bags and carried by hand in a plastic grocery style bag.
  • Still or video cameras are not allowed during the rounds of play, Thursday through Sunday.
  • Pagers must be set to vibrate.
  • Radios and televisions are not permitted.
  • Purses, bags, fanny packs or other carry-in items larger than 6" x 6" x 6" are not permitted. Sizing boxes will be located at the gates.
  • All purses, bags and fanny packs are subject to inspection.
