The temperatures are cooling, but Scottsdale’s special event season will get off to a red-hot start this October.

The fun begins this weekend with Tour de Scottsdale cycling events and continues through Halloween night with Fall Festival activities at Eldorado Park.

Packed in between are culinary celebrations, children-focused events and the return of Fall League baseball to Scottsdale Stadium. There are a number of ways to keep up with the action:

Walk, Run & Roll
from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, beginning at the Market Street Plaza.  This 5K along trails in DC Ranch and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve benefits the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. Families can walk, run or bike ride while conservancy stewards host a desert scavenger hunt. Get details at www.mcdowellsonoran.org.


Tour de Scottsdale
cycling events. About 1,500 cyclists from around the nation and hundreds of spectators are expected for these events beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at DC Ranch.  Get more information at (480) 538-3540.


Dine Out with the Chefs
celebrates its 6th anniversary with an expanded roster of renowned chefs, live entertainment and other surprises from 4 to 6 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The Arizona Fall League

The “Pink Light District”
returns to Scottsdale this October when Downtown’s Marshall Way Bridge is illuminated with pink light bulbs in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The official lighting ceremony is Oct. 6. For more information, visit: www.aibh.org.

The Arizona Taco Festival
takes place Oct. 15 along the Waterfront in Downtown Scottsdale featuring awesome food, good times and support for a worthy cause.
