Community can help seniors Beat the Heat

Collection efforts are under way to help vulnerable Scottsdale seniors cope with our scorching summers.

The city’s Beat the Heat program annually provides a “care package” of summer goods to isolated, frail and homebound senior citizens.  Donations needed include reusable bags and water bottles, nutritional supplement drinks (i.e., Ensure or Gatorade), bottled water, small snack items, stamps and grocery gift cards (minimum $35).

Donations can be dropped off by June 17 to the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda. You’re also welcome to make a monetary donation to the program, either by cash or check.  Please make checks payable to Concerned Citizens for Community Health/Via Linda.

For more information, including a complete list of needed items, call (480) 312-8455, email zmatz@scottsdaleaz.gov or visit: http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/volunteer/socialserviceshs.
