“All Things Senior” Expo offers information, education and entertainment

As the oldest baby boomers become senior citizens this year, the 65 and older population is projected to grow faster than the total population in every state, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.  And in Arizona, one in four residents will be older than 60 by 2020.

To help address the issues and needs of our aging population, the Scottsdale senior centers are hosting an “All Things Senior” Expo.   The free event, which is sponsored by McDowell Village and Arte Resort Living, is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. Second St.

The Expo will provide a "one-stop-shop" for those looking to connect with valuable local resources such as learning about senior housing, recreation and fitness opportunities, transportation resources and health and wellness.

Dozens of exhibitors will be on hand to provide information and demonstrations.  The event also features live entertainment, educational sessions and health screenings.  The Scottsdale Police Department will be on hand to accept and properly dispose of expired and/or unwanted over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

Here’s a schedule of activities:

Live Entertainment:  11 a.m. - A Frank Sinatra Tribute featuring Monty Aidem.

Educational Sessions:
9:15 a.m. - Services & Support for Loved Ones with Dementia
10:15 a.m. - Everything Library
12:15 p.m. - Everything You Should Know About Estate Planning
