Public-private partnership connects Scottsdale events and shopping with free trolley service

Join Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane, Councilwoman Lisa Borowsky and other members of the City Council as they recognize the program sponsors of the free “Hospitality Trolley” and unveil two new “wrapped” trolleys on Weds. Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. on the northeast corner of Hayden and Bell roads.

This new trolley route was brought online in only seven days and private sector sponsors contributed more than $100,000 to make the free service possible.   The sponsors include Van Chevrolet, Van Buick GMC, Airpark Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Pinnacle Nissan, Infiniti of Scottsdale, Fiat of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Healthcare.

Scottsdale’s new “Hospitality Trolley” route connects visitors with the city’s major event venues and shopping districts at no cost to the rider.  Service runs from 10:30 a.m. to midnight seven days a week and stops at all of the city’s major event centers including Downtown Scottsdale, Scottsdale Stadium, the Princess Resort, WestWorld and the TPC Scottsdale – home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open currently underway.

This 90-day pilot program was initiated by the Scottsdale City Council to provide visitors with a convenient way to access the city’s events, shopping and entertainment options. Ridership, sponsorship and patron feedback will determine future operations after the pilot program is completed.

The city operates three additional routes: the Downtown, Neighborhood and Miller Road trolleys.
