New Hospitality Trolley started service Jan. 17

Scottsdale’s new “Hospitality Trolley” started service on Monday, Jan. 17, linking visitors at the city’s major resorts with Downtown Scottsdale and event centers such as Scottsdale Stadium, WestWorld and the Tournament Players Club golf course.

Service will run from 10:30 a.m. to midnight seven days a week and begin in Downtown Scottsdale at the northwest corner of Osborn Road and Drinkwater Boulevard (across from Scottsdale Stadium).  The route will head west on Osborn to Scottsdale Road, then north on Scottsdale Road to the final destination of WestWorld with stops at other event venues and sponsoring resorts along the way.

City Council approved the new service on Jan. 11 as a 90-day pilot program. Future operations will be determined by ridership, sponsors and patron feedback.

The estimated cost to operate the new route for the trial period is $180,000. Funding for the trial period will be split – the city will fund half from bed tax revenues, with private sponsors funding the other half. Sponsors will receive advertising on the two trolleys providing service on the Hospitality Route and preference for stop locations.

This is the fourth trolley route operated by Scottsdale.  The Downtown, Neighborhood and Miller Road trolleys currently provide service in Scottsdale from McKellips Road to McDonald Drive.   Transfers can be made from the Hospitality Route to other routes in the Downtown area.
