12-08-08 Release: Half marathon to restrict traffic on Sunday, Dec. 14

  Half marathon to restrict traffic on Sunday, Dec. 14


On Sunday, Dec. 14, the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon takes place in Scottsdale. The starting line is located on 75th Street just north of Indian School Road. The finish line is located on 75th Street just south of Indian School.

Several local street sections will be closed the morning of Dec. 14 to accommodate runners. They include:

  • Indian Bend will close sporadically on the west side of Hayden Road while runners cross this intersection between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m.
  • Chaparral and Jackrabbit roads will close completely on the west side of Hayden between 7:30 and 11 a.m. McDonald Drive or Camelback Road are the recommended alternative routes.
  • Miller Road, north of Osborn Road, will close as runners near completion of the race between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m.
  • 75th Street between 1st Avenue and 2nd Street will be closed Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, through noon Sunday, Dec. 14.

Single lane restrictions also will be in place on the following road sections from 6 to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate runners participating in the half marathon:

  • Scottsdale Road, northbound from Camelback Road to Doubletree Ranch Road
  • Doubletree Ranch Road, eastbound from Scottsdale Road to Hayden Road
  • Hayden Road, southbound from Via de Ventura to Osborn Road
  • Osborn Road, westbound from Hayden Road to Miller Road
