Traffic lanes reopen – city works to limit road closures
Traffic lanes will be reopening next week through three major road projects in Scottsdale, meaning smoother trips for motorists as the holiday shopping season approaches.
In an effort to assist motorists during this busy time, Scottsdale also is moving to limit the number of road closures and restrictions taking place in high-traffic parts of the community during this busy time.
Additional traffic lanes are scheduled to reopen next week at the Scottsdale Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard intersection, a section of Indian School Road between Pima Road and 81st Street and on Camelback Road between Scottsdale and Miller roads.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard/Scottsdale Road intersection will open to three lanes east, west, and southbound. There will be two lanes open northbound. Scottsdale Road, between Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and the Loop 101 will open to two lanes of traffic in each direction from late November to early April.

Indian School Road will reopen to two through lanes in each direction next week between Pima Road and 81st Street as construction winds down to add new turn lanes, bus bays, a landscaped median, bike lanes and install a storm sewer system.

Camelback Road will reopen to two through lanes in each direction between Scottsdale and Miller roads following a project to install water and sewer lines.

Scottsdale also is working with utility companies, developers and contractors this season to ensure high-volume roadways remain open during the busiest traffic times of the year.
Emergency restrictions will still be permitted as will a handful of ongoing projects. Scottsdale, however, will work to limit the number of non-critical traffic restrictions taking place starting Nov. 26 in the following locations:
- Downtown (bordered by 68th Street, Earll Drive, Miller and Chaparral roads) through April 1, 2009.
- Perimeter Center/Princess Resort (bordered by Scottsdale Road, the Loop 101 Freeway to the north and east and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard) through March 1, 2009
- WestWorld (bordered by the Loop 101 Freeway, Bell Road, Thompson Peak Parkway and Raintree Drive) through April 15, 2009.
- Scottsdale Road corridor (from the southern city limits to the Loop 101 Freeway) through April 1, 2009.
Scottsdale also may prohibit road projects that restrict traffic outside of these areas but conflict with planned special events.
