Votes continue to be counted in tight Scottsdale races
The Maricopa County Elections Office continues to process thousands of ballots from last Tuesday’s election. The large volume of uncounted ballots means Scottsdale’s mayoral and City Council races remain tight and subject to potential change.
In the latest results released Monday, Nov. 17, mayoral challenger Jim Lane, a Scottsdale Council member has 49,891 votes and incumbent Mayor Mary Manross has 49,340 votes.
In the race for three open City Council seats, incumbent Ron McCullagh and challengers Lisa Borowsky and Suzanne Klapp hold leads.
Countywide, roughly 55,000 “late early” and provisional ballots remain to be processed and counted, according to the Elections Office. It is not known how many of those ballots were cast as part of the Scottsdale election.
“Late early” ballots are those mailed to voters but not dropped off at the polls until Election Day. Provisional ballots are those that still must be verified.
The latest Scottsdale election results are available at the Maricopa County Elections Office Web site: http://recorder.maricopa.gov/electionresults/.
