10-01-08 Release: Early ballots for Scottsdale election mailed this week

  Early ballots for Scottsdale election mailed this week


Ballots will be mailed starting Thursday, Oct. 2, to voters on Maricopa County’s permanent early voting list.

Voters go to the polls Nov. 4 to decide a number of federal, state and local races, including Scottsdale’s Mayoral and City Council Runoff Election.

Walk-up early voting for the Nov. 4 election also starts this Thursday at three Maricopa County Election offices. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday Oct. 31. The sites are located at:

  • 510 S. Third Ave., Phoenix
  • 111 S. Third Ave., Phoenix
  • 222 E. Javelina, Mesa

On Monday, Oct. 6, walk-up early voting begins at Scottsdale City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through Oct. 30. On Oct. 31, early voting will take place at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents must be registered to vote by Oct. 6 to participate in the Nov. 4 election.

The deadline for residents to request an early ballot through the mail is 5 p.m. Oct. 24.

The written request must specify where to send the early ballot and must contain a signature for verification purposes. If the ballot will be sent to the address on the resident’s voter registration record, an early ballot may be requested by phone (602)506-1511, or online at: www.recorder.maricopa.gov/EVRequest

Candidates in the Scottsdale Mayor and City Council Runoff Election are featured in an informational pamphlet available online at:

In addition to details about the candidates, the pamphlet features information on early voting and voter identification requirements. The pamphlet is published in both English and Spanish, in compliance with U.S. Justice Department requirements.
