08-28-08 Release: Input sought on teletrack ordinance changes

  Public input sought on teletrack ordinance changes


Residents and business owners are invited to comment on proposed changes to the city’s Teletracking License Ordinance.

Proposed changes include adding a category for dog racing. Currently the ordinance provides for horse racing only. The update also includes changes in the licensing requirements, as well as clarifying ordinance language.

The draft ordinance is available for viewing at www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov/taxes/teletrack.asp.

Citizens can comment about the proposed changes in a variety of ways, including:

An open house and two informational meetings also are planned to gather input on the proposed ordinance change:

  • Open house from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, Scottsdale Downtown Office, 4248 N. Craftsman Court
  • Informational meeting 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, Scottsdale Stadium Pressroom, northwest corner of Osborn Road and Drinkwater Boulevard
  • Informational meeting 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, Mountain View Community Center, 8625 E. Mountain View Road
Comments should be sent no later than Friday, Sept. 26. Updates will be posted along with information about when the City Council will consider adopting changes.
