Independent voters must notify county for ballot preference

Scottsdale voters who are registered as independents and have requested an early ballot for the Sept. 2 election must contact the Maricopa County Election office regarding their ballot preference.

Independents will not be mailed an early ballot until they have stipulated whether they want to receive a Democratic, Green, Republican or non-partisan ballot.

The Maricopa County Election office can be reached at (602) 506-1511.

In conjunction with the county, state, and federal primary elections, the city of Scottsdale will hold a non-partisan General Election on Sept. 2 to elect a mayor and three City Council members.

Walk-up early voting for the Sept. 2 elections is under way at Scottsdale City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Aug. 28. On Aug. 29, early voting will take place at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Three Maricopa County Election offices also offer walk-up early voting. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday Aug. 29. The sites are located at:

  • 510 S. Third Ave., Phoenix
  • 111 S. Third Ave., Phoenix
  • 222 E. Javelina, Mesa

Candidates on the Scottsdale ballot are featured in an informational pamphlet available online at:
