Community discussions planned for southern Scottsdale area
  residents

Residents of southern Scottsdale are invited to attend a cafe discussion this fall to help identify goals and policies that will guide the area’s future.

The city’s Advance Planning Division is hosting the meetings. They are the next step in a process to create the Southern Scottsdale Community Area Plan, a document that will guide development in the area for the next several decades.

The process began last spring when residents and other interested parties gathered to identify and prioritize community themes during the Southern Scottsdale Visioning Workshop series.

Scottsdale residents, business and property owners who live south of Indian Bend Road (excluding the Downtown area) are invited to develop goal and policy statements based upon those themes during this Fall’s café discussion series.

The café sessions will consist of small group discussions among about six to eight participants responding to theme-related questions. Moderated by a facilitator, the participants will move from table to table to address each of six questions. The entire session should last no longer then two hours.

To accommodate schedules, several dates and locations will be offered for either day or evening exercises. Each of the sessions will cover the same set of questions.

Here are the five Café Discussion dates, times and locations:

· Wednesday, Oct. 1, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, 6535 E. Osborn Road

· Tuesday, Oct. 14, 6 to 8 p.m., at SkySong, 1475 N. Scottsdale Road

· Oct. 29, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Kerr Cultural Center, 6110 N. Scottsdale Road

· Nov. 12, 6 to 8 p.m., Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road

· Nov. 20, 6 to 8 p.m., Kerr Cultural Center, 6110 N. Scottsdale Road
