Volunteers needed to fill board and commission openings

Scottsdale residents are invited to apply for volunteer positions on nine city boards and commissions. The positions will be filled in September.

The City Council relies on these citizen-based boards and commissions to research issues, reach out to community members and recommend policy direction on a variety of issues important to the city’s future.

Openings exist on the Airport Advisory Commission, Building Advisory Board of Appeals, Development Review Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Library Board, Loss Trust Fund Board, McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission, Personnel Board and the Planning Commission.

Residents can find information about the functions of these boards and commissions, plus an application form, here.

The application form, which is valid for one year, may also be picked up in the City Clerk’s office in City Hall, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.

Applications should be submitted by Aug. 22 to give City Council members adequate time for review.

The Council will nominate from the applicant pool on Aug. 25. Those nominated will be interviewed at the Sept. 9 special City Council meeting. Following the interviews, the Council will appoint residents to three-year terms.
