Filing deadline for Scottsdale City Council nominating forms
  is May 28

Candidates for Scottsdale City Council must file their nominating petitions and papers with the City Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. May 28 for their names to appear on the Primary Election ballot.

Candidates must submit nominating petitions with a minimum of 1,000 valid signatures to qualify for a spot on the ballot.

Voters go to the polls to fill three open seats on the Scottsdale City Council in the Aug. 26 Primary Election. Candidates must receive a majority of the legal votes cast to be elected outright at the primary. If not, the top two vote-getters for every open seat will advance to the Nov. 4 General Election.

Scottsdale residents who are not on the permanent early voting list can request an early ballot starting Sunday, May 25, for the Scottsdale Primary Election.

If you are an Independent voter or do not have a party affiliation, you must inform the Maricopa County Elections Department which party’s ballot you want to receive to cast a mail-in ballot in the Aug. 26 primary.

Scottsdale voters should also be aware of another requirement relating to early mail-in voting. Ballots cannot be automatically forwarded to another address by the U.S. Postal Service. If you are out of town this summer and wish to cast an early ballot in the primary, you must register your alternative mailing address with the Maricopa County Elections Department.

You can contact the Maricopa County Elections Department at (602) 506-1511 or visit its website.
