Fire Department hosts open houses on preliminary designs for fire stations at Eldorado Park, Cactus and 96th

Scottsdale Fire Department will host a pair of open houses this week for residents to review preliminary site plans and provide feedback on the design of two proposed fire stations.

Here are the details:

* An open house on the proposed Cactus Acres Fire Station 8, to be located on the northwest corner of Cactus road and 96th Street, will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda Road.

* An open house on the proposed new Eldorado Fire Station 1, to be located on the southwest corner of Eldorado Park, will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 at the Eldorado Park Community Center, 2311 N. Miller Road.

Scottsdale Fire Department has a goal of arriving on the scene of an emergency within four minutes or less, 80 percent of the time.  A key factor in reducing response time is the location of fire stations throughout our city.

City staff has selected WLC Architects to design the station.  The City Council will consider the award of a design contract to the architect at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 6, 2008.
