Residents and Downtown businesses are invited to join the Scottsdale City Council at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 to dedicate the recently completed Downtown booster pump station located on the southeast corner of Indian School Road and Marshall Way. As a part of ongoing revitalization of the downtown area, the new booster pump station serves as the primary source of pressurized water to the downtown area as well as supplementing the existing system and providing fire protection.
The pump station was designed by CSA Engineering-GHD and DWL Architects. It is capable of pumping up to 10,000 gallons per minute and will serve as a landmark that will link the two arts districts, north and south of Indian School Road, in downtown. The project creates a backdrop for the historic Horseshoe Falls public art installation and provides a small stage area that can accommodate art and craft exhibits, small dances or gatherings, small musical performances, and a variety of public events. The tile pattern on top of the walls emulates a traditional Navajo Blanket and the glass tiles are like water seeping from the bottom of a cliff wall.
