Council votes to accept separation agreement
   for
city manager and appoints acting treasurer

The Scottsdale City Council voted today, March 18, to accept a separation agreement for City Manager Jan Dolan.

Dolan was appointed as Scottsdale’s city manager in the year 2000, after serving as the manager of Menlo Park, Calif.

Assistant City Manager David Ellison is serving as acting city manager under a succession plan adopted by the City Council in November 2007. The City Council is expected to make a determination in the near future regarding a longer-term appointment of an acting city manager.

At tonight’s meeting, the Council also voted to appoint Chief Financial Officer Craig Clifford to the post of acting city treasurer. Dolan had been serving as both city manager and treasurer.

In November, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing a succession plan during the absence of the city manager. Ellison is the first in line to assume those responsibilities, followed by Assistant City Manager Roger Klingler and Assistant City Manager Neal Shearer.
