Part-time, hours and schedules will vary depending on park location assigned. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be placed on an eligibility list to fill vacancies as they occur. QUALIFICATIONS
• Any combination of education and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
• Previous recreation experience is desirable.
• Must be able to conduct various physical recreation activities involving walking, running, bending, stooping, jumping, and reaching.
• Ability to effectively communicate in a positive manner with all age groups.
• Ability to maintain discipline and effectively communicate park rules.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds to perform job duties such as setting up tables and sound/lighting equipment, booth frames, etc.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Some positions require having a current valid Arizona Driver’s License and no major driving citations in the last 39 months.
• The Parks and Recreation Division enforce dress and appearance standards related to clothing style, displaying tattoos, pierced body parts, hair color and style.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists a Recreation Leader II in planning and conducting park and recreational activities and programs for youth and adults at a school or community facility. Conducts organized games, assists in arts and crafts activities and assists in maintaining a safe, recreational environment. Supervises, roves, and observes the park grounds for maintenance and safety. Enforces and explains policies and procedures to park patrons in all areas of the park; handles complaints; observes patrons in the parks and building facility. Supports park maintenance staff by assisting with maintenance duties, including changing trash liners and picking up trash. Writes reports and keeps manual records regarding accidents and incidents that occur on park grounds or in school or community facilities. Performs routine clerical functions such as delivering flyers and answering phones or general office work. Puts out bases for ball field reservations and turns on lights; sets up tables, chairs, and other equipment required in a classroom setting for community classes.
